December 2006 - Hello friends and travellers

Or should I say bonjour. I still don’t have the French thing down beyond recognizing the word for bakery….not a good start! For those of you who don’t know, this last July, my husband Randy and I packed up and moved to Montreal, Quebec. It’s been an amazing journey, especially in the trauma of leaving our kids….two in Calgary and one off to an internship in Northern Ireland. I guess it’s about learning that God loves our kids more than we do and can take better care of them as well.

I read this quote on a myspace.com recently

“THE SPIRIT, NOT CONTENT TO FLIT AROUND ON THE SURFACE, DIVES INTO THE DEPTHS OF GOD, AND BRINGS OUT WHAT GOD PLANNED ALL ALONG.”

I love that…to drown in the depths of God, knowing it’s the only way to live…..completely, utterly, filled and surrounded by Him.

My friend Christy….

Many of you emailed and asked how you could pray for my friend Christy, who had breast cancer. I was so touched by your heartfelt concern and so was Christy. I want all of you to know that Christy went home to be with Jesus at the end of May. Her funeral was one of great sadness, but also great joy. The clear message of salvation was given by Christy herself, who had been videoed at church the year before sharing her testimony. At that time, she thought she’d beaten the cancer….not knowing that it had spread into her brain. But almost prophetically, she shared how, if this cancer should take her, she wanted people to remember that she was a woman who knew Jesus and never was ashamed to speak of Him and that this would be her legacy.

And so it is…

I miss her…

Back in Studio!

Next month I will be back in studio to work on my next project. The CD will be called “The Guest Who Waits Inside” and it will be a collection of meditation songs, hymns and chants. I did some research into early Celtic prayers and blessings and from this, have written a number of songs and meditations. My resources were the Carmina Gadelica (Celtic prayers and blessings that were collected by Scottish folklorist Alexander Carmichael in the Western Isles in the 19th century), and other writings, both protestant and catholic. I’ve also written a few in the Taize tradition. Roy Salmond came out to Montreal in November and we did some pre-production for a few days. I’m so excited about this project as it’s always been a dream to do a meditation CD and I find there is so few available in the mainstream church. We will hopefully launch the CD and new website in March 2007. Pre-ordering will be available sometime in February.

Northern Ireland and beyond….

This last month, I had the great privilege of returning to Northern Ireland and my beloved city of Bangor, to work again with West Church. They have just refurbished their sanctuary and built a new addition and I was asked to come and be part of the opening. My son Adam, who is interning at CFC in Belfast, put together an awesome band and we played, laughed and worshipped together! Randy and I got to spend time not only with Adam, but with our dear friends in Bangor and Belfast. I also sang at some other church communities in Belfast and will be returning next year in fall, not only to Bangor, but Belfast as well. I will also be returning to Germany in May for a month long tour. I’m working with Aron Loewen, my guitarist as well as a band that’s being organized in Germany. We hope to go into East Germany this time and whatever other doors God opens. For concerts and events in your area, check my website schedule page at www.liannaklassen.com
